Hey Peter (I assume it's Peter?). Bingo really started out a social phenomena, a brain-dead simple game that cut across demographic and educational boundaries. (You just had to have, I guess, a high threshhold of boredom.) It gave church and other civic groups a way of bringing people together to visit and integrate, nutrturing community and raising some money in the bargain.

Now it's being played on the 'net, completely stripped of its higher-minded purposes. The church or Rotary makes no money (God know where it goes instead) and no one meets the neighbors.

Not to be all the world is going to hell in a handbasket about this. There are other ways to meet the neighbors (sites such as your for example), and certainly the net has proved marvelously efficient at raising money for the needy. So, the net giveth and the net taketh away.

But BINGO... well, BINGO is forever.

Hey mister snitch! (Actually, Chug posted this ... he likes your blog) ... you're right that internet bingo strips it of its community and fundraising purposes ... now it's just gambling ... with no veneer ... but I don't think the internet will have the same impact on some of the other kinds of community/fundraising events ... like pancake breakfasts and spaghetti dinners ...
